7 Candle Safety Tips Every Candle Lover Should Know
Candles create warmth, ambiance, and calm—but they also require care.
Whether you're a seasoned candle enthusiast or just getting started, these essential safety tips will help you enjoy every burn with peace of mind.

1. Never Leave A Burning Candle Unattended
This is the golden rule of candle safety. Always stay in the same room while your candle is lit. Extinguish it before leaving, even for a moment.

2. Keep Away From Flammable Objects
Place candles at least 12 inches away from anything that can catch fire—like curtains, books, plants, or decor. Keep your surfaces clutter-free and candle-friendly.

3. Trim Your Wick Before Each Burn
Before lighting, trim your wick to about ¼ inch. A trimmed wick helps your candle burn cleaner, prevents soot, and extends its lifespan

4. Burn Candles On A Stable, Heat-Resistant Surface
Always place your candle on a flat, non-flammable surface that can handle heat. Avoid wood furniture, fabric, or anything delicate unless protected with a tray.

5. Let The Wax Pool Completely
On the first burn, allow the wax to melt across the full surface of the candle. This prevents tunneling and ensures even, efficient burning in the future.

6. Don't Burn For More Than 4 Hours
Overburning can cause the container to overheat or the wick to “mushroom,” leading to larger flames and more soot. Extinguish after 3–4 hours and let it cool.

7. Keep Out Of The Reach Of Children And Pets
Curious hands and wagging tails can be hazardous around flames. Keep candles in safe, elevated spots away from kids and furry friends.
